She was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in army bases in Germany, New York, California, and Nevada, since her father was in the US Army.
As a young teenager, Ciara was inspired by a TV performance by the girl group 'Destiny's Child' while staying home from school one day, and she decided to pursue a career in music. Once was a cheerleader for her high school team, she quit to concentrate on singing. She joined a group called "Hearsay", worked on her songwriting, then eventually left the group and got a solo publishing deal.
Ciara's debut album was in the summer of 2004 with the number-one single "Goodies". The Goodies album was released in September, 2004 and produced three top 10 hits, selling 3 million in the the U.S, 5 million world wide, and earning various awards and nominations.
Ciaras second studio album is Ciara: The Evolution and contains the singels Get up and Promise.
She also wrote or co-wrote every song on the album.
